We welcomed members of the GENAI-X Project for our networking kick-off event, bringing together PhD researchers, postdoctoral fellows, principal investigators, and project partners from across the initiative.
The event provided an opportunity for participants to get to know one another, present their expertise and research interests, and discuss the goals and vision of the project. Through lively discussions and informal exchanges, attendees explored potential collaborations and laid the foundation for a strong and connected research community.
Highlight was a one-hour Role Play on AI-based Flood Warnings as a tabletop exercise in which the participants responded to a fictional flood emergency while evaluating predictions from a data-driven AI model and a physics-based hydrological model. Through realistic decision-making scenarios, the exercise introduced key concepts including covariate shift, concept shift, uncertainty, model assumptions, and the challenges of deploying AI under changing environmental conditions. The materials for this exercise are available as an open educational resource on ZenodoExternal link.
